A short while back, I mentioned an “Amazingly Secret Web Project.” Today if you go over to Best Online High Schools, you will discover that a brand-new design went live last night. It is my hope that it provides a better resource for the online high schools community.
It also provides what I hope is a better format on the back-end for me to use. The previous design was done in Joomla and ultimately it did not work as I would wish. This new design is actually a WordPress theme and was designed by my regular developer, Bob Martin.
To say I am pleased with how it turned out would be an understatement.
What? Part 1? You mean there’s more?
Yes. Yes, there is, but you will need to be patient.

Yesterday, at my online high schools site, I had less traffic in one day than I have had since 2007 when I launched the site. I am not sure at all why that might be. Traffic was seriously down. When I saw it inside the cPanel, I actually went to the website to make sure that it was still up. The only time that I have seen anything like that occur was when there was a problem with the website. Today is slow as well.
Very odd.

Simply Brilliant Solutions created the Best Online High Schools website and set it up with search engine optimization. They are a major reason for why the site gets the amount of traffic it gets. I was recently contacted by them to see if they could use my experience as a case study for their efforts.
If you would like to see that case study, I encourage you to go take a look. The short version is that the work they did on the site has reaped many benefits. Traffic to the site is significant, it is the largest such site on the Internet, and it only continues to grow.
The case study was rather interesting to me even though I can see the site statistics. Perhaps you would find it interesting as well. The numbers are off and traffic is actually higher than what is given, but it’s a difficult thing to determine without all of the information.

You may recall that I mentioned a large website project currently underway. While there is still some branding to be done, the websites are all in place and you can see them below. There is still much work to be done, but, as you can see, there are fifty brand-new websites specifically tied to the individual states. Given my work on the Best Online High Schools site and elsewhere, these are not sites that will be updated on a daily basis. I would like to be able to add something on a weekly basis, though.
I mentioned branding. Currently under development is a WordPress theme that is similar to the parent website. When that is done, then that will get uploaded to each of those sites. If you have worked with WordPress, you know that is actually a relatively simple task.
The URLs all look like <statename>onlinehighschools.com. Also, there are a few more coming, but they will have to wait.
The thinking behind this effort is to create a larger footprint in this niche of online high schools, but to also give folks a place to have information about their schools and the programs they have created. I will put up news and videos and such.
So, without further ado, here are the websites:
Alabama Alaska Arizona Arkansas California Colorado Connecticut Delaware Florida Georgia Hawaii Idaho Illinois Indiana Iowa Kansas Kentucky Louisiana Maine Maryland Massachusetts Michigan Minnesota Mississippi Missouri Montana Nebraska Nevada New Hampshire New Jersey New Mexico New York North Carolina North Dakota Ohio Oklahoma Oregon Pennsylvania Rhode Island South Carolina South Dakota Tennessee Texas Utah Vermont Virginia Washington West Virginia Wisconsin Wyoming

If you are looking for videos about online high schools on Youtube, I would like to suggest the Best Online High Schools channel. I have begun to scour that site for videos that would be of interest to you. I would encourage you to subscribe while you are there. If you do that, Youtube and I will do the work of finding those school videos for you.
